We practice Open Church periodically at RL by giving the worship team a break, putting our seats in circle and inviting everyone to speak out for the mutual edification of the body.
Here are some practical guideline for during the service:
speak for no more than 2-4 minutes
if you have a prayer, story, insight, just share it
if you have a song, make sure it’s on the list and just start singing
if its not on the list, you could go back and ask whoever is on the slides to find it
its okay if there is silence
when someone shares something, let’s try to finish with that topic before moving on (ex. give 2-3 minutes)
if you have something for a specific person, go to them. If it is a strong message, ask a leader to help you discern
